This is the cover art to Black Cat Mystery #40 by Joe Simon. Wow. Talk about labor intensive! Because of the extent of the glue damage to this piece, I opted to totally hand paint the negative spaces of this image with tinted guoache paint. I then reproduced the issue number/date and PDC stats. I believe that the extra effort produced a greatly enhanced image. I didn't change the tonal quality of the paper - the two images were shot under different ambient light situations. This piece took approximately 12 hours to complete.
