This is the awesome Classic cover art to Black Cat Mystery #37 by Warren Kremer. This is a good example of how even a nice looking piece can be greatly improved with the right kind of restoration. On this piece I diminished the glue and reproduced the stats. Apparently, with regard to the bottom right tombstone stat, the original tombstone image was considered too small to contain the text copy and so, for what ever reason, was cut away. Since I believe that anyone viewing this piece would appreciate seeing it in total beneath the tombstone stat, I applied a piece of paper to the blank, glue stained area and then hand painted an appropriate image of a tombstone. Then I applied the bottom part of the original tombstone stat and the top part which I reproduced onto a piece of acetate that can be lifted up to more fully view the image below. This piece took approximately 9 hours to complete.
